Protests for Palestine: Protests on college campuses have emerged across the world concerning the Palestinian casualties in the Israel-Hamas war. The most notable of these protests being those at Harvard University, Columbia University, and Sorbonne University in Paris, France. Protesters can be seen pitching tents in hopes of drawing attention to the crisis arising out of the Middle East. In some instances, these protests have turned violent, with local police being called in to dispel large crowds and arrest protesters.

Spanish Prime Minister: The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez announced in late April that he would not be resigning after the government began formal inquiries into reports of corruption by his wife, Begoña Gómez. Sánchez attributed the investigations to “harassment by the right-wing media”, which garnered him support from tens of thousands of Spanish citizens who gathered at the headquarters of the Spanish Socialist Party to show their support for the leader. Members of opposing political parties continue to criticize Sánchez and Gómez for their decision to remain in power, saying that he is bringing “international embarrassment” to the country and engaging in a “political survival operation.”
